‘No helmet- no petrol’ rule to be implemented strictly

District Collector Pravin Kumar directed the officials to act tough with those who do not implement ‘no helmet – no petrol’ rule for two wheelers.

He held a review meeting along with the Police Commissioner T.Yoganand and Visakhapatnam Rural SP Rahul Dev Sharma on the measures taken to reduce the road accidents. Deputy Transport Commissioner S.Venkateswara Rao gave a Power Point presentation on the number of road accidents, fatalities and measures being taken by various departments. He said a total of 551 persons were killed and 2,6-9 were injured in 2,058 accidents during last year.

Pravin Kumar called upon the officials of both police and transport department to initiate special measures to ensure wearing of helmets by two-wheeler riders. He directed the GVMC, R&B and Panchayat Raj departments to ensure setting up of the road signs and speed breakers.
