ACB arrests AMC professor Babu Vijay Kumar in disproportionate assets case

Anti-Corruption Bureau officials today arrested Andhra Medical College professor Nalli Babu Vijay Kumar for possessing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The unearthed assets’ document value is Rs.3.58 crore but source said that the market value would be around Rsw.30 crore. The assets include a house site in Visakhapatnam, a site at Kakinada, building (G+2) on 400 square yards and a doctor’s chambers. This apart, the properties registered in the name of his wife Pamu/Nalli Nirmala Jyothi include a flat and house sites in Visakhapatnam and a house site at Kakinada. The properties seized also include 0.72 cents of land in health city in the city at about Rs.5.6 crore in the name of the accused person’s elder daughter Nalli Ramya.

ACB DSP K.Ramakrishna Prasad said that the site was purchased by Nalli Babu with a fair amount of contribution from Pamu Panduranga Rao, engineer-in-chief of Public Health and Municipal Engineering. Both Babu and Panduranga Rao worked as medical officer and Chief Engineer respectively in GVMC.

The moveable assets seized include three cars, a scooter, 2.4 kg gold, 3.58 kg silver, household articles worth Rs.8.5 lakhs and bank balance of Rs.1.9 lakh.
