ACB nabs Tahsildar Sankara Rao in land grabbing scam and DA cases

The suspended Tahsildar Sankara Rao who was accused in land grabbing said to have been absconding has been booked on the directions of the District Collector Pravin Kumar by the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau today.

Sankara Rao was charged with possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The registered value of the assets so far was put to Rs.1.22 crore the market value of which is said to be over Rs.5 crore.

Sources said that the accused is one of the main accused in the land grabbing cases in Visakhapatnam especially in the areas such as PM Palem, Kommadi, Pendurthy and Madhurawada. The revenue and ACB officials alleged that he had tampered the government records and took hefty amounts from them as commission.

ACB DSP K.Ramakrishna Prasad said the accused had been absconding for the last fifteen days and have been caught on Wednesday. The officials conducted raids in Bobbili, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Kotauratla. The officials also raided the house of his mother-in-law and Kotauratla MPP member. They have seized documents pertaining to three plots with two houses in Bobbili, two plots at Chinagantyada in Gajuwaka, two house sites at Sabbavaram in the district, one benami site at Peddapuram in East Godavari district.
