CITU asks Visakhapatnam Port Trust to refrain from leasing of vacant lands

CITU State president Ch.Narasinga Rao and United Port and Dock Workers’ Union honorary president V.S.Padmanbha Raju today asked the Visakhapatnam Port Trust management to refrain from leasing out of vacant land for commercial purpose.

Stating that the expression of interest notified by the port to give over 100 acres near Saligramapuram and Visakhapatnam International Airport on 30 year lease was against the provisions of the Major Port Trusts Act of 1963. Speaking to press, they said that the port lands should be used only for port-related activities. They said that leasing out the precious lands would only help the private investors to make money.
