Central team begins survey of city on Swachh Mission

A five member team from Swachh Bharat Mission, New Delhi began its survey of the city as a part of Swachh Survekshan-2018 today.

Under the purview, as many as 4,041 cities are being covered in the survey. The team verifies the documentation done by the GVMC as well taking up physical survey of the cleanliness of the city. Besides the cleanliness measures being implemented, it visits hotels, schools, hospitals, the Railway Station and the RTC Complex. Apart from thrust on sanitation and segregating dry and wet waste at the doorstep of the residents, construction of public and community toilets, providing ramps for use by older persons and differently abled and tablets to rank them are among the measures being implemented by the GVMC to further improve cleanliness and sanitation.

Swachh Bharat Mission and Swachh Andhra Corporation, 20 big and 50 mini compactors, 800 compactor bins and sweeping machines and mini sweeping machines acquired at a cost of Rs.60 crore are pressed into service to further improve cleanliness and solid waste management according to GVMC Commissioner N.Hari Narayana.

A total of 43 aspects were being implemented, he said. Having secured the fifth rank in 2016 and bettered it to third in 2017 expectations are high now.
