The Principal Sessions Judge for CBI Cases Gayatri Devi on Wednesday convicted Gundumalla Sunitha, the main accused and the then Labour Enforcement Officer (Central) to undergo three years of rigorous imprisonment and also to pay a fine of Rs.50,000.

The court acquitted the then Labour Commissioner (Central) M.Nageswara Rao who was accused number two of the charges. The allegation was that during July 20-6, the two accused entered into a criminal conspiracy to abuse their official position and Sunitha demanded a bribe of Rs.15,000 for herself and for the Commissioner from a complainant who was engaged in the hotel business and a franchisee of Reliance ‘A1” plaza for not creating any problem for obtaining licence in doing the business.

A trap was laid and the main accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 as her share from the complainant.
