MP M.Srinivasa Rao demand for Railway zone

Anakapalle MP M.Srinivasa Rao has demanded creation of Railway zone in the State with its headquarters in Visakhapatnam.

In a memorandum to Railway Board Chairman A.K.Mittal, he noted the discrimination against Waltair division by the East Coast Railway headquarters despite being the highest revenue earner for the zone. He also sought development of Anakapalli Railway Station in SCR as a model station with all modern facilities like lifts and escalators. He wanted better amenities at Yelamanchili and Kasimkota Railway stations, extension of loop-like at Duvvada, provision of a halt to Visakha Express and Howrah –Tirupati Express trains at Pendurthy Railway Station and development of the satellite stations of Duvvada and Pendudrthy as smart railway stations.

The AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry has drawn the attention of Railway Board Chairman A.K.Mittal to the issues pertaining to the region apart form the long-pending demand for establishment of Railway Zone at Visakhapatnam.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chairman during his visit on Friday, APCCI Director O.Naresh Kumar sought among other things introduction of new superfast trains from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi, Vijayawada and Chennai in addition to a dedicated tourist train to Araku.

In a separate memorandum, Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee member D.Ananda Kumar Reddy sought introduction of direct train from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi and regularization of the weekly train to Shirdi.

A delegation of ECo RSC led by its working president T.Narasinga Rao met the Chairman and submitted a memorandum demanding filling of the large number of vacancies in Group C and D available in the Division. Another delegation of ECoRSU led by its president P.J.J.Raju met the Chairman and sought early implementation of 7th Central Pay Commission and resolving of the anomalies.
