Old currency worth Rs.99.95 lakh seized from garage – two arrested

The City Task Force arrested two persons and Rs.99.95 lakh in old currency of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 which the duo were planning to exchange for new currency through an NRI account on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as Dadi Srinivas Naidu (35) and Lakka Rajaramana (40). On receipt of credible information, the CTF team raided a car garage in MVP Colony area and arrested the duo and seized the currency.

According to ACP of CTF I.Chittibabu, the seized amount include 3,798 notes of Rs.1,000 and 12,394 notes of Rs.500 denomination. The accused got the notes from East Godavari and were trying to exchange them through some NRI accounts.
