Women organizations Progressive Organization of Women (POW), AIDWA and Mahila Samakhya plan to go on a three day fast from Wednesday at Gandhi Statue here opposite to GVMV demanding the arrest of noted film maker Ram Gopal Varma.

Speaking to media here today, Ms.Lakshmi of POW said the director had insulted women by saying that pornography is a good profession as it gives pleasure. ‘We take exception to such derogatory remarks, as it hurts womanhood. Referring to Ram Gopal Varma’s comment on Ms.Mani, an AIDWA activist, in a TV show, she said that the director had insulted the AIDWA activist and the government and the police have not reacted to it. Despite lodging a complaint with the District Collector and Commissioner of Police and filing a complaint in a police station, no action had been initiated against the director, she said.

The members of the women organizations pointed out that the police had dispersed the complaint as non-cognizable and did not take action.
