The postal department has set up a parcel packaging service centre, the first of its kind in the country.

The Pack Post Centre set up at Dabagardens sub-post office a couple of weeks ago aims at ensuring cost-effective and hassle-free delivery of parcels, catering to both individual and bulk consignments. Ever since its inception, the centre has been receiving good response from various segments of the society.

Depending on the weight of consignment, mini, small, medium, large, extra-large and jumbo cartoons will be used for packing. The list of parcel service includes speed, express and business among others. Though the parcels can be booked at any post office, the packaging service is available at the sub-post office. Similar services will be extended to other offices depending upon the demand said Inspector, Posts (marketing). Pack Post Centre even more desirable is the credit facility offered to those who opt for bulk parcel service on a regular basis. Packaging charges vary from Rs.50 to Rs.290 based on the weight and size of the parcel. The department plans to open similar service in Vijayawada.
