RINL completes 7.3 million tonne expansions

The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited has achieved a production capacity of 7.3 million tonne.

‘Now, we have not only modernized blast furnaces by installing pulverized coal injection technology for better output but also expanded the capacity from 6.3 million tonne to 7.3 million tonne’, said RINL CMD P.Madhusudhan. The modernization project was taken up at a cost of Rs.4,000 crore. The modern caster-4 has a capacity to produce one million tonne rounds and blooms. The caster-4 consists of lx5 strand bloom-cum-round casting machine. The rounds capacity is up to 510 diameters. It will help the raw material requirement of RINL’s forged wheel plant coming up at Raebareli at a cost of around Rs.1,700 crore.

RINL will supply rounds and blooms produced from caster-4 to other customers. SMS Group has provided technology for the new caster. The company registered an improvement of 26% in its sales volume by achieving a turnover of Rs.13,000 crore, he said.
