Sailor of Indian Navy succumbs to bullet wound- probe ordered

Vikash Yadav, an Electrical Mechanic Power Class I sailor of the Indian Navy succumbed to the bullet wound he received in the early hours of Thursday while on duty as security sentry onboard ‘INS Rana’.

Yadav was shifted to Naval hospital here immediately where he was declared brought dead. His family and the local police were informed about the incident. A Board of Inquiry had been formed to investigate into the incident.

Police sources said that the sailor allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with an Insas 5.56 rifle assigned to him for sentry duty. A case has been booked for death under suspicious circumstances.
