The three day TDP Mahanadu, the entire police team is busy giving the finishing touches to the security cover.
DCP (Law and Order) Navin Gulati aid that the plan is not only for the main venue, but spread over to three districts, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. Intelligence sources say the major threat is from the Maoist as reports and recent activities of the Left \wing extremists suggest they are desperate to do something big. About 2000 policemen from different units across the State have been drafted for the plan. A total of about 3,200 policemen from various armed battalions including Greyhounds, Octopus, State Intelligence Bureau, commandos and Quick Reaction Team will be on duty not only at the venue but across the city. Six IPS rank officers have been asked to assist the force.
According to police sources, three layer security cover will be spread. The outer layer will man the 12 check-posts and all entry points to the city, there will be an intermediate layer between the check-posts and the venue and the core team will be present at the venue . About 35 access control teams will be manning the 20 pints at the venue and six anti-sabotage teams will be part of inner cordon. There will be about 44 Road Opening Parties, 60 CCTVs inside the venue and 60 body cameras will be part of surveillance back-up.
Petition filed in High Court::
A research scholar Janakiram has filed a petition in the Hyderabad High Court on using the Andhra University Engineering College grounds for conducting ‘TDP Mahanadu’, a political meeting. He faulted the conduct of the meeting in violation of the orders issued by State Council for Higher Education. Arguments have been completed on Thursday and the judgement will be delivered on May 26, 2017.
