VIMS to get super-specialty tag soon

The Visakhapatnam Institute of Medical Sciences will get a super-specialty status shortly.

AP Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas after a brief visit to the VIMS interacted with its Director C.V.Rao along with Director of Medical Education N.Subba Rao said that VIMS was getting over 500 outpatients a day. It may be recalled that the VIMS was established on a 100 acre land and was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

A CT scanner, X-ray, ultra sound and color Doppler were inaugurated at the Radiology and Imaging Department. The facilities invested and managed by Dolphin Diagnostic Services in the PPP mode wer provided at a cost of Rs.2.5 crore. Dolphin MD Suresh said that they are in the process of installing MRI facility shortly with an investment of Rs.5 crore.

VIMS Director Subba Rao said that the clinical services would be offered through cashless transactions for NTR Arogya Sri, State and Central government health scheme card holders. For others, the services would be available at almost 50 to 60 per cent less than private diagnostic services available in the city. He said that proposed to recruit 50 specialists.
