VJF awards presented – Ganta and Ayyanna Patrudu shares the dias

The Vizag Journalists’ Forum (VJF) organized Awards giving function at Dr.YVS Murty Auditorium here today to felicitate outstanding performers in the field of print and electronic media.

The function was attended by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and R&B Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu. The organizers made the two Ministers share the same sofa and draped a shawl over their shoulders to felicitate them together. The situation gained importance at a time when they were in the news of having difference of opinion in the wake of land scam.

Responding to this, Ayyanna Patrudu remarked ‘this is why one has to be way of the media. ‘You, the media, have made it look as though there is really something amiss between the two of us and you have played the peace-maker. But there is nothing of that sort’, he said.

• Special jury award presented to Santosh Kumar Patnaik, senior Assistant Editor of The Hindu
• Kapila Gopala Rao award was presented to G.Umakanth (Sakshi)
• Masuna Master Memorial Award was presented to Yogeswara Rao (Vision-evening daily)
• Special awards were presented to K.Tirupati Rao (Studio N), Best Sports reporter to Nalla Ram (Deccan Chronicle), best crime reporter G.Harish Reddy (Indian Express) and K.Bhaskara Rao (senior photo journalist).

Scholarships and mementos were presented to children of journalists.
