Visakhapatnam Railway station gets Tourism award

Visakhapatnam Railway Station has been adjudged as the ‘Best Tourist-friendly Railway Station’ in the State by the AP Tourism Authority.

The award will be presented at the State Tourism Annual Excellence Awards-2017 to be held at Ramakrishna Beach on the World Tourism Day on September 27. The APTA award is another feather in the cap of Visakhapatnam Railway station which was selected as the ‘No.1 Railway Station in Cleanliness among A-1 category stations in the country by the Ministry of Railways.

Waltair Division Divisional Commercial Manager (coordinator) G.Suneel Kumar today said that the Station as chosen for the award in view of the availability of tourist-friendly infrastructure such as seating facilities, AC/non-AC waiting halls, toilets, eating outlets, food courts, maintenance and upkeep of railway stations, availability of tourist facilitation counter, prepaid auto/taxi counters, retiring rooms, etc.,
