• City student L Tarun Kumar secured 100th rank in the all-India rankings of IIT-JEE exam. Two hundred and three students of FIT-JEE Vizag centre secured ranks out of 325 who appeared for the exam. L Tarun Kumar, son of a conductor, topped the rankings from the city by getting the 100th rank .

• Naik Ramana cremated with full military honours:: Naik Ramana body was arrived at the Naval Air Station INS Dega late on Friday night. Floral tributes were paid to the mortal. He was the part of the 16th Madras regiment, died in a terrorist attack on the Army Camp in Kashmir and body was flown to the city from Jammu in a special IAF aircraft.

• IMD predicts thunderstorms:: The Indian Meteorological Department today on Saturday forecasted thunderstorms in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Isolated rains are likely in Nellore, Prakasam and Rayalaseema region. The State government has alerted the district administrations of north coastal and Rayalaseema regions to take up precautionary measures. The DRO of Visakhapatnam has directed the district officials to be on alert.
