Waltair Division earns Rs.6,456 crore in 2016-17

The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway earned Rs.6,456 crore during the financial year 2016-17. This includes earning of Rs.5,864.24 crore through originating traffic of 52.70 million tonnes and earnings of Rs.498.92 crore by carrying 35.57 million passengers according to Additional DRM Ajay Arora.

SHGs join hands to help night shelters

NGO Chaitanya Sravanthi on Tuesday contributed 500 of Kg of rice and Rs.50,000 to the night shelters being run by GVMC. Women self-help group members contributed three fistfuls of rice every day to give it to the night shelters. GVMC Commissioner M.Hari Narayanan lauded the gesture of Chaitanya Sravanti and its contribution in making the city open defection-free. He said that three more night shelters would be opened by the month-end.

EPDCL records lowest T&D loss

Bringing down T&D losses to 4.99$, APEPDCL stood first in the country and under rural electrification programme 100% target was achieved by providing power to 1,98,112 households said CMD M.M.Nayak at the Independence Day function. As many as 3,701 households in 171 Agency villages were given solar power connectivity. So far 36.47 IrDA meters have been provided by EPDCL and intends to supply another 15,000 meters by the end of the year, he said.

CRPF hoists national flag in Agency areas

The 71st Independence Day was celebrated at the unit headquarters of 198 Bn. CRPF.K.S.Deswal, Commandant, hoisted the National Flag on Prahalad Kalyanamandapam premises and similar ceremonies took place at all places where the CRPF men are deployed in interior areas of Agency along the AOB. It has been awarded with 57 gallantry medals of which two are Kirti Chakras, two Shourya Chakras and 53 police medal for gallantry.
