Disciplinary action only after ACB report

DIG of Stamps and Registration T.Saroja today said that the disciplinary action would be initiated only after receipt of a report from the ACB on the corruption at the Joint Sub Registrar Office at Super Bazaar. Referring to reports on transfer of eight employees, she clarified that due to ban on transfers, they were sent on deputation to non-focal offices so as to improve public confidence in the functioning of the office.

Child marriages are on the high side in the State

According to DLHS statistics, the prevalence of child marriages among tribal people in the Visakhapatnam district is close to 57.4% which is above the national average of 50% according to Prasun Sen of UNICEF. According to him, in 1961, the total population of adolescents in India was 85 million and it has gone up to 253 million by 2011. He said that the media has to play a key role in reporting cases objectively and as well as dissemination of information as the age between 10 to 19 is very critical as the adolescents experience sudden changes biologically, physically and mentally.

Bala Vikas launched

Bala Vikas, a free training programme was launched at Sri Sathya Sai Mandir, Ukkunagaram today. The training programme initiated by the Sri Sathya Sai Mahila wing was meant to impart lessons on values, personality development and a range of soft skills for those aged between 6 to 15 years.

Former corporator Botta Eswaramma arrested

Former corporator Botta Eswaramma was arrested for protesting against opening of a retail liquor shop and bar in Ward No.36 on Sunday. Though local women had been agitating against the location of the bar for 45 days, the shop was opened with police protection.
