CFTUI meet in Visakhapatnam on September 11 and 12

The 5th congress of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of India will be organized for the first time in South India in the city from September 10 to 11. CFTUI president Neelapu Kanaka Rao told reporters here that the congress would discuss the issues pertaining to enforcing rights of the most vulnerable workers. Over 300 delegates will attend.

Teachers union demand scrapping of Contributory Pension Scheme

State Teachers’ Union today went on a protest at the Gandhi statue at GVMC demanding scrapping of Contributory Pension Scheme. CPI district secretary A.J.Stalin extended support to the demand and deplored the anti-employee stance of the governments. A memorandum was submitted to the District Revenue Office at the Collector’s office.

Tax defaulters warned of action

In spite of repeated visits by municipal staff and levy of penal interest defaulters are not paying heed and failing to remit property, water and vacant land taxes and D7O trade licence. If they do not pay up immediately, their names would be publicized, properties attached and tap connections would be cut, an official release from Zone II of GVMC said.
