Cleanliness drive

NSS Unit of St.Joseph’s College for Women(A) organized an awareness programme in their adopted village Sebastian colony on Wednesday. The team was led by NSS Program Officer Dr.K.Manikya Kumari. In another programme, all the students, faculty and non-teaching staff took a pledge to achieve a new India, a country which would be corruption free, communalism free and a socialist, secular and Swachh Bharat.

Blood donation camp

A blood donation camp was conducted at Government Institute of Chemical Engineering in collaboration with A.S.Raja Voluntary Blood Bank today. Around 70 students and staff participated in the programme. The cam was organized under the supervision of Dr A.Radha Rani, medical officer and D.Ram Ravi Sankar, manager.

Captive mines sought for RINL

Several trade unions staged a dharna in New Delhi today demanding dropping of the decision to offload 10% equity in RINL according to a release. CITU leader J.Ayodhyaram, Visakha Steel Employees’ Congress general secretary Mantri Rajasekhar and others called on the Union Minister for Steel Chaudhary Birendra Singh and urged him to immediately allot caption iron ore mines to RINL.

Protocol lounge work at airport reviewed

The protocol VIP Lounge being constructed outside the airport at a cost of Rs.43 lakh should be completed at the earliest so that the Chief Minister can inaugurate the same in his next visit, said District Collector Pravin Kumar. He inspected the ongoing work, being executed by the Housing Department of VUDA.
