Role of data in bioinformatics underlined
Dean of Baker College, Michigan Prof.Richard G.Bush today said big data analytics was playing a major role in bioinformatics. He was the chief guest at the fourth international conference on computational and big data analytics organized by the local chapter of Institute of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. In his key note address, he narrated about computer assisted decision in medicine using machine learning and deep learning techniques.
Chandrababu Naidu launches e-Visa services at Airport
Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu today inaugurated the new e-Visa services at the International Airport here. Apart form Visakhapatnam, there are 24 such e-Visa centres in the country. This will facilitate international passengers to have Visa at the airport but the required documents and other formalities should have been completed online before their arrival in India. Visakhapatnam Airport is the first airport to have this facility in the State.
Medical camp held at Jail
A medical camp was organized at the Central Prison by Kala Hospital today. The medical team, consisting of eight doctors, two para-medical staff, three pharmacists and seven nursing staff examined the prisoners and tests for BP, blood sugar, pulse rate and ECG were conducted. Eye tests were conduced for 72 prisoners.
Best secretary award for Murty
HRD Minsiter Ganta Srinivasa Rao presented the award for the PRSI Best Chapter Secretary to PLK Murty of Visakhapatnam Chapter. He received the award for the third year in a row. M.Srinivasa Rao, MP, Anakapalle, Ajit Pathak, national president of PRSI, Nivedita Banerjee, secretary General, PRSI, Prof. DVR Murty and US Sarma were present.
VCT bags award
Visakhapatnam Container Terminal was awarded Container Terminal of the Year Award at East Cost Maritime Forum 2017 held at Kolkata recently. VCT won the award for its proactive measures undertaken to improve efficiency and considering the overall performance during the year.
TLM kits given to special kids
RINL director (personnel) Kishore Chandra Das on Friday inaugurated the training and learning material camp, CSR initiative of RINL for intellectually challenged SC and ST children from Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts at Arunodaya Special School, Ukkunagaram. Around 120 children were given TLM kits. NIEPID provided the kits each costing around Rs.10,000.
