Call to contribute to Flag Day fund

Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer Capt.P.Satya Prasad has called upon the public to donate generously to the ‘Flag Day Fund’ which will be used for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families in addition to providing amenities to the serving personnel and families of the Armed Forces. The Flag Day being observed on December 7 every year, reminds citizen of the debt they owe to jawans, sailors and airmen who stand guard on land, sea and air frontiers of the country.

Maoist militia member surrender

Three Maoist militia members including two women surrendered before rural police of Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. The surrendered have been identified as V.Seetha alias Vanaja (20) of Saluru mandal in Vizianagaram district, G.Eswara Rao (26) of Dumbriguda mandal of Visakhapatnam district and V.Sobhana (32) of Pedabayalu mandal of Visakhapatnam district.

’I am not in CM race’ says Pawan Kalyan

Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has made it clear that he is not aspiring to become the next Chief Minister. Addressing a meeting at the Three Horse junction, he said ‘we are for solving people’s problems and our party is committed to taking up issues concerning them. Whosoever does a blunder and deviates from public interest, we have to grill them, he said. ‘Had I wanted, I could have contested to become MP either from Visakhapatnam or Anakapalle on the Praja Rajyam Party ticket in 2009. I was never interested in occupying posts’, he said.

Inter-collegiate youth festival held

An inter-collegiate youth festival ‘Excelsior 2K17 was organizsed at St.Joseph’s College for Women (A) on Wednesday. Students showcased their skills through dances, songs and mime presentations. Chief Vigilance Officer of DCI VVS Srinivasa Rao was the chief guest.

AUSDE weekend classes

The week-end classes for PG courses offered by the School of Distance Education, AU have already commenced from December 3.
