HPCL gives ambulance to GVMC

As part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and CSR, HPCL Visakha Refinery handed over an ambulance with equipment and a septage vehicle worth Rs.58.5 lakh to GVMC at Janmabhoomi programme organized at Janata Colony today. Visakha West MLA PVGR Naidu, District Collector Pravin Kumar, HPCL Director (Refineries) VS Shenoy, and other officers flagged of the vehicle.

Comedian’s Swachh campaign

Congratulating comedian Ambati Srinivas on completing 99 Swachh Bharat campaigns in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has asked him to shoot it in Odia too. The Minister released a poster on the occasion.

Calendar released

Principal of St.Jospeh’s College for women Dr.Shyji released the institution’s calendar today. She said that the calendar depicted the achievements of the faculty members and students of the college. Later, Dr.Shyji handed over the first copy of the calendar consisting of the images of labs, garden and students to the student council.

12 persons taken into custody for cockfight arrangements

The Arilova police today have taken 12 persons into their custody and produced them before the Mandal Revenue Officer for allegedly making all the arrangements to organize the banned cockfights at Arilova area. Sources said that 12 persons are preparing venue for the blood sport, which are suppose to commence from January 14 marking the Sankranti festival. YSRCP leader P.Murty Yadav today submitted a memorandum to the city police to take action against Visakha East MLA V.Ramakrishna Babu for patronising cockfight and encouraging high stake betting in the city.

13 motorists jailed for tipsy driving

Thirteen motorists have been slapped with jail term by local courts today. This is the first time that 13 motorists were awarded sentence in one single day for drink driving in the city. They were slapped with three day jail term and a fine ranging from Rs.900 to Rs.2,0000 while two motorists were awarded to five-day jail term and five of Rs.2,000 each and one motorist was sentenced to four-day jail term and one more was for two-day jail term.

Essar Vizag Terminal commissions ship loader

Essar Vizag Terminal Limited, a BOT operator at Visakhapatnam Port has commissioned 8,000 tonne per hour ship loader. Essar Ports Limited is executing Rs.830 crore expansion project to upgrade the iron ore handling capacity of the Vizag Terminal in the outer harbour from 12.5 million tonne to 24 million tonne per annum. The commissioning of ship loader recently has increased its cargo handling rate from 70,000 tonne per day to 1,20,000 tonne per day.
