Teachers counselling comes to an end

Teachers transfer counselling has completed on Sunday. The SGTs counselling was held at ZP Meeting Hall and at Ramakrishna Mission School. The with the last day on Sunday, as many as 1,150 teachers counselling was held. The counselling was held for 800 teachers on plain areas and 350 teachers from Girijan areas. The counselling was supervised by Joint Director M.V.Krishna Reddy from 10am to 10pm.

Genius – 2017 Vizag’ talent test in September

Cattian Board of Director Hari Jagadish Babu said that the Genius-2017 talent test will be held in September for the candidates appearing for competitive examinations. Speaking to press at VJF press club, he said the test comprises of general knowledge, arithmetic, reasoning, general English, puzzles etc., The test will be conducted in two phases and in the preliminary round the test will be online and those who got highest marks will be qualified for final round. Those candidates who were qualified in the final round will be presented with Rs.1 lakh cash prize. Those in the top ten will be given a cash prize of Rs.10,000. The test will be held in the last week of September, he said.

Residents stage dharna against wine shop

Vivekananda Residents’ Welfare Society staged a dharna in protest against opening of a wine shop in a residential area in the sixth ward on Sunday. They raised slogans seeking immediate removal of the wine shop from their colony. CITU leader Jyoteeswara Rao backed the agitation for removal of the shop and criticized the government for the policy to earn more from selling liquor.

Training put off

Training programme for the candidates selected for Civil and AR wings of Visakhapatnam city which is scheduled on July 31 has been postponed. The fresh date will be announced later according to an official release.

Plantation drive

In order to improve the green cover in the city and bring down pollution level, Leela Krishna Toyota organized a tree planation drive at Ukkunagaram Club, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Sunday. The programme was held as a part of the company’s CSR initiative. A number of employees of the organization took part in the plantation drive.

Audition held for Princess of Vizag

The team of Event Maxx organized the first audition for the ‘Princess of Vizag’ title on Sunday. The forum, open for women aged between 18 and 25 years, was meant to create awareness on social work and encourage people to contribute to society. About 30 contestants took part in the audition and 24 were shortlisted for the next round. The selected contestants will be trained in fitness and other aspects.

Five militia members surrender

Four militia members hailing from Rangabayalu panchayat of Munchingput mandal surrendered before DSP Mahendra Mathe at Paderu on Sunday. The surrendered members who used to extend logistics support to the Maoists were identified as Mandi Musiri, Vantala Singru, Mandli Janbri, Mandi Subba Rao and Mandi Rama Chandhar.
