Admissions into Gandhian Studies school

GITAM School of Gandhian Studies has invited applications for its courses for the next academic year. It currently offers programmes in B.A. Social Sciences, M.A. Applied Psychology, M.A. English Language and Literature, civil services preparatory programme and certificate courses in Indian and foreign languages, yoga and soft skills. Cancellation of mining lease demanded

The district committee of CPI (M) has appealed to the Collector to stop the mining activity and cancel the leases given to two private companies in the catchment area of Kalyanalova Reservoir of Ravikamatam mandal. In a letter e-mailed to the Collector, CPI(M) district committee secretary M.Lokanadham alleged that the two companies – M/S Stone Plus and BVL Granites had obtained false claims that there were no villages in and around one km of the mining area.

REPCO Bank will be conducting a loan camp from June 12 to 23. During this period, a 50% concession on processing fee will be offered to customers. The fee waiver is applicable on all term loans and overdraft limits. Bank offers trm loan facility against urban property. Loan can be considered up to 65 per cent of market value of the property.

Teachers protest at Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s residence

Tension prevailed at HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s house at MVP Colony today following an impromptu protest opposing the new guidelines and rationalization of schools. However, a little later amid loud protests, the police came in large numbers and bundled them into a waiting van. They were lodged at III Town Police Station. S.Simhachalm of SC/ST Teacher’s Union alleged that they were picked up by the police when they were staging a protest peacefully.

VPT Chairman Krishna Babu nominated

Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman M.T.Krishna Babu has been nominated as the Chairman of Board of Governors of JNTU College of Engineer, Kakinada. At a recent meeting of the board attended by V.Rajanna of TCS and Varaprasad Reddy of Shanta Biotech, he was selected to head the board.

’Implement Supreme Court verdict on EPS

Visakha Steel Employees’ Union honorary president and INTUC leader Padi Trinadha Rao has appealed to Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya to allow employees of RINL and other companies to contribute higher amounts for EPF Scheme as per the judgement given by the Supreme Court. In a representation, he said that the apex court had ruled that the employees not opting on the basis of actual salary could avail the option.

Combined AU Convocation on July 29

The 83rd and 84th combined convocation of Andhra University will be held on July 29. Candidates who have successfully completed their courses during 2013-14 and 2014-15 are eligible for the award of degree/diplomas in this convocation. Ph.D and M.Phil degrees will be awarded to candidates who are scheduled to complete them by June 30, 2017 according to a statement issued by Registrar V.Umamaheswara Rao. Eligible candidates who wish to obtain their degrees and diplomas in person or in-absentia should apply in the prescribed proforma enclosing a demand draft for the amount as specified.
