Blood donation camp organized

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, a blood donation camp was organized at CMR Central today. The camp was inaugurated by Anakapalle MP M.Srinivasa Rao. About 110 units of blood was collected.

District shooting competition

Visakhapatnam District Rifle Association will be conducting District Shooting competition at YMCA on June 18. The competition will be held in the age groups of 10 to 14 years, 15 to 21 years and 22 to 60 years. During the competition, the district shooting team will be selected to participate in State shooting competition that will be held in Hyderabad from July 1 to 5. Coast Guard holds special classes for fishermen

Indian Coast Guard conducted about 110 community interaction classes for fishermen during the 61 day fishing ban period year. According to Deputy Inspector General AK Harbola, Commander, Coast Guard Headquarters, Visakhapatnam. The classes were conducted as part of assisting and capacity building for fishing community.

GVMC-New Chief City Planner takes charge

R.J.Vidyullata today assumed charge as Chief City Planner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. She was earlier Chief Urban Planner of VUDA and went on transfer to Vijayawada.

City boy excels in global space contest

Nag Vijay Sreekar Kakarapalli, Intermediate student of Narayana High School and his team stood second at the 36th International Space Development Competition held at Missouri, USA from May 25 to 29. The team presented a poster on ‘Creation of a sustainable space colony’. The team comprised Pranav Verma Sagi, Sai Manikanta Verma Penmatsa, Krithik Govindu and Sahil Kumar.

1st annual combined NCC camp begins

The first combined annual NCC training camp for the training year 2017-18 began at AU Campus on Tuesday. The ten day camp will be conducted under the command of Lt.Col.V.S.Srinivas, Commanding Officer of 2(A)Artillery Battalion NCC, Visakhapatnam. About 600 cadets from both junior and senior NCC from three north coastal district are participating. A mega show is being planned on June 21 on the occasion of Yoga Day.

Time scale employees to get EPF

Andhra University Executive Council in its meeting has decided to extend EPF benefits to employees working in time scale and 28 days system. The Council also deided to to appoint teaching associates in the departments wherever necessary. It also decided to permit the employees working in PG Centres in Tadepalligudem and Kakinada. It also decided to hike the remuneration for the staff deployed for spot valuation.

Self-employment loans to Kapu youth

Kapu Corporation Chairman Chalamalasetty Ramanuja said that the application for loans under self employment scheme for the youth in Kapu community will be from June 19. He said that the Corporation had sanctioned Rs.600 crore to 64,000 persons from the community. The eligible youth with white ration cards will get Rs.2 lakh loan with a subsidy of 50 per cent. The Corporation will sanction loans to groups for establishment of small scale industries. He said that for higher education in abroad, a loan of Rs.10 lakh will be sanctioned with free air travel, VISA etc.,
