LIC holds medical camp

As part of International Yoga Day, LIC of India, Divisional Office conducted a free medical camp at the VUDA Health Arena today. The camp was conducted in association with doctors of Pradhama Hospital. P.Ramesh Babu, senior divisional manager of LIC inaugurated the camp.

Balightam Executive Officer in ACB net

The ACB officials today arrested N.Venkateswara Rao, Executive Officer of Baligattam group of temples in Narsipatnam while he was allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs.10,000 from a complainant at his office in Narsipatnam. According to ACB sources, the Executive Officer allegedly demanded the bribe from D.Eswara Rao who works as caretaker of the temple’s ‘Gosala’ for doing an official favour of enhancing his remuneration to Rs.6,000 from the present Rs.4,000 per month and issuance of a cheque worth Rs.16,000 towards pending remuneration. The accused official will be produced before the ACB court.

Lecture on Kantian ethics tomorrow

Centre for Policy Studies is organizing a lecture on ‘Kantian ethics, enlightenment and perpetual peace’ on Saturday. N.S.Dhanam will give insights into the subjects at the hour-long meet that will begin at 4pm at Visakhapatnam Public Library.

Bank of India Loan Mela

Bank of India executive director R.A.Sankara Narayanan and general manager (South) Raj Kumar Mitra will attend a loan mela programme under the bank’s ‘Star Mahotsav’ on Friday. The loan mela will be conducted at the BOI main branch at Dwarakanagar at 1.30pm.

NRDC chief to city

National Research Development Corporation CMD H.Purushotham will attend the steering committee meeting of Intellectual Property Felicitation Centre on Friday. IPFC was set up here by NRDC in association with the Ministry of MSME Summit. He will interact with industry representatives on Saturday at the conference hall of Vizagapatnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Redesigned AU website launched

Andhra University Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao today launched the newly redesigned website of the university. Speaking on the occasion, he said the new version of the website was I tune with international standards. The Vice Chancellor advised the students to make better use of services provided by the Computer centre.

AARM elects office-bearers

The third three-day national conference of the Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch elected new office bears and members for its national executive committee at the valedictory here today. Former MP and reception committee chairman Midiyam Babu Rao will be the new chairperson. CPI (M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat, MLA from Khammam Sunnam Rajaiah, Rajendra Singh Munda, Salo Marandi, Purno Boro and Debalina Hembrom will be the vice-chairpersons. Tripura East MP and former Minister Jitendra Choudhury will be the national convener.

State level children’s convention begins on Friday

Nature, an NGO working for Child Rights and Communities Empowerment in association with National Commission for Protection of Child Rights is organizing a three-day State-level children’s convention here from Friday at Platinum Jubilee Hall in Andhra University. In all, 200 Children Club Leaders representing Chittoor, Kurnool, Anantapur, East Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam would be participating.

’Escalade’ prelims on July 9

IIT Guwahati will be conducting its annual robotics event ‘Escalade’ on September 1. As part of its prelims will be organized at 11 centres across the country on July 9. The top six teams from each centre will be invited to IIT Guwahati for the finals in September. The winners of Escalade 6.0 will take home prizes worth Rs.80,000.

AU instant examinations on July5

The Andhra University is conducting instant examination for B.Tech (integrated courses). Those who failed in a theory subject in fourth year B.Tech (first or second semester) and fifth year B.Arch (first or second semester) for 2017 can appear for it which will be held on July 5 at the AU College of Engineering from 9am to 12pm.
