Free training for SCs and STs

Free training for the SC and ST candidates who have applied for junior trainee jobs in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant will be conducted on June 27. The candidates are requested to report at Home Guards Barracks, Sector-I, Ukkunagaram on Monday.

State level Christian meet

Andhra Pradesh Christian Leaders’ Forum comprising are bishops, bishops of various denominations, State Christian leaders, State heads of various organizations and association, body members of various Pastor Fellowships and para Church organizations from 13 districts of the State will be meeting here on June 27. The meeting is conducted to discuss various issues according to convenor Oliver Rayi. The meeting will be held at YMCA from 9am to 1pm.

33 selected in campus recruitment

About 33 students from various streams have been selected in the campus interview conducted by Hyderabad based Aurobindo Pharma Limited at Andhra University College of Science and Technology recently. Associate Vice-President HR of Aurobindo Pharma Ltd., UNB Raju, Assistant General Manager (HR) M.Srinivas conducted the interview. The process was coordinated by placement officer of AU College of Science and Technology Y.Venkateswara Rao and monitored by Registrar V.Umamaheswara Rao.

Prameela Devi appointed as Principal

M.Prameela Devi, Professor of Mechanical Engineering has been appointed Principal of Andhra University College of Engineering for Women by Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao. She will assume office on July 1. P.V.Rajesh Kumar has been appointed Chairman of Board Studies, ECE, Department of Andhra University. He will take over charge from Prof.G.Sasibhushana Rao.

Three more bars to come up

The new excise policy announced by the State government will not result in an increase in the number of bars in GVMC limits according to Prohibition and Excise officials. However, permission was given for opening of three new bars – two at Narsipatnam and one at Yelamanchili. Bar licences would be granted based on population and one bar would be allowed for every 30,000 population said Deputy Commissioner for Prohibition and Excise Ch.Gopalakrishna.

Call for efforts to check flow of liquor

All parties should come together to combat the ill-effects of liquor, said participants an all-party meeting held at Saradanagar in Anakapalle on Sunday. At the meeting organized by JVV, its executive president M.V.R.Krishnajee assailed the governments for taking about the welfare of the poor on the one hand and opening more and more liquor shops on the other.
