Award for Sravan Shipping Services Pvt.Ltd.

Sravan Shipping Services Pvt.Ltd., received 15 years achievement award (MSME award) from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada on the eve of International MSME Day. The award was given to G.Sambasiva Rao, Managing Director of the firm for excellence in rendering service, corporate social responsibility initiatives and for corporate governance to ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in approach and compliances to applicable laws.

Rasta Roko staged

Joint Action Committee of Andhra University students, teaching and non-teaching staff and researchers today staged a ‘rasta roko’ opposite the university’s main gate condemning recent attacks on Dalits. They demanded stringent action against those who had removed the statue of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and an announcement of ex-gratia to Dalit victims.

Convention on environment

The three-day convention on environment, urbanization and bio-being organized by Andhra University Environmental Science Department began here on Tuesday. The convention focuses on addressing issues relating to environmental pollution along with green remedies and sustainable development.

Former director of UGC centre passes away

Director of UGC Centre for SAARC Studies M.Prasada Rao and staff members expressed deep condolences over the demise of the centre’s former director V.Pothana. He headed the centre from 1995 to 1999 and was also a former Professor of Applied Economics.

Two suspected malaria deaths

Two persons from Agency areas of the district died reportedly due to malaria. Meghana (11) of Sundraputtu of Paderu mandal was suffering from anaemia and jaundice for some time. She died while being shifted to KGH on Monday. It is learnt that the girl tested positive for malaria. G.Madugula sarpanch M.Matsyaraju (35) was undergoing treatment for jaundice with typhoid at a private hospital in the city died. Chief Minister in a video conference directed the District Collector and ITDA Project Officer to constantly monitor the health situation and organize special drives to control diseases.

Solar unit installed at PAPA home

A2 KW solar power unit installed by Waltair Round Table-92, a chapter of Round Table India was inaugurated at the Public and Police Association Home (PAPA) in Police Lines, Suryabagh. T.Yoganand, Commissioner of Police, Commissioned the solar power unit.

SIT on lands scam begins probe

The Special Investigation Team begins its probe in the multi crore lands scam today. Grey hounds DIG Vineet Brijlal who heads the SIT with Joint Collector G.Srujana and TTD Deputy Executive Officer Deputy Collector Lanka Vijaya Sarathi as members. The members met and decided to accept complaints through WhatsApp, phone, e-mail and Grievances.
