Rally taken out

As a part of the centenary celebrations, Lions Clubs Visakhapatnam took out a rally on Beach Road on Wednesday. The rally was flagged off by Joint Commissioner of Police A.S.Khan. Ashok Kumar Agarwal, district chairperson and NVN Durga Prasad, past district governor and others were present.

Wellness workshop for children

Bala Vikas Foundation will conduct a free child-friendly wellness summer camp at Yoga Village, Andhra University from 9am to noon on Thursday. The children will be taught through an interactive awareness programme on how being active helps the overall health, importance of playing outdoor games, how yoga could help their bodies could help to stay alert and flexible. Fishermen advised to use TED trawl nets

The WWF-India team along with Central Institute of Fisheries Technology organized an awareness meet on the use of trawl nets with turtle excluder device among those engaged in fishing activity. M.Vinod, senior coordinator, marine programme, WWF-India said that the usage of TED trawl nets is low here unlike in Odisha and this endangers the turtles. He said that the mating period of the Olive Ridleys was from November to February adding their survey showed the activity took place in 5 km radius at different places near the coast. If a TED net is used, turtles have the chance to escape the net through the excluder device, he said.

New Army office inaugurated

A new office building of the Area Accounts Office (Army) was inaugurated by Veena Prasad, Controller General of Defence Accounts today. The inaugural function was attended by the Indian Navy, Ship Building Center, Indian Coast Guard, Defence Accounts Department, Military Engineer Services and other defence establishments.

Ravi Kiran and Ravindra released on bail

Political punch admin Inturi Ravi Kiran and Daruvu Web portal representative Ippala Ravindra were released on bail. They were arrested on the charges of posting against the government and were arrested and lodged in central prison.
