Youth held on charge of abetting suicide

The Gopalapatnam police on Wednesday arrested Naka Rajesh a petty contractor for abetment of suicide of 20-year-old pharmacy student Prabhalika. The pharmacy student committed suicide on Sunday evening when she set herself ablaze in front of the house of Rajesh. She was admitted into a hospital with severe burns but succumbed to her injuries.

Two get life time in dowry case

The 12th Additional District Judge A.Satyanand on Wednesday sentenced Y.Rambabu (35) and his mother Y.Apppala Narasa (58) to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.1,000 for killing Y.Govindamma (23) wife of Rambabu over demands for additional dowry. Public Prosecutor (in-charge) of the court M.Venu Gopala Rao said that Rambabu native of Atchutapuram married Govindamman in 2008 and at the time of marriage he accepted Rs.2 lakh and some gold jewellery as dowry.

Digital village

The Bank of India has announced Kolavanipalem village under its Gidijala branch near Anandapuram in the district has become the first 100 per cent digital village in the State among the areas adopted by the Bank. A function was held on the occasion at the tribal village on Wednesday. MP K.Haribabu presided over the and shared views about ‘Digital Visakha’. The Bank’s Andhra Pradesh Zone has adopted five villages across the State for cent percent digitalization.
