AITUC plea to VSP management on HRA

AITUC affiliated Visakha Steel Workers’ Union has asked the RINL-VSP management to revise HRA to non-executives immediately. Union general secretary D.Adinarayana said as per the classification of cities, the union had signed an agreement for 17.5% of basic as HRA with the condition that in future it should be revised as per classification of cities and wage revisions. He said in a statement that as per circular issued by the Centre, Visakhapatnam comes under Y category where 20% of existing basic along with arrears from the date of wage revision should be paid as HRA.

IDAS officer visits CG ships

Indian Defence Accounts Service senior officer Vinod Kumar Vijay visited Coast Guard units and ships in the city. The officer is currently the Integrated Financial Advisor to the Director General at Indian Coast Guard headquarters in New Delhi. He visited Coast Guard Ships Sagar, Vigraha and Samudra Paheredar and was given a brief on the ongoing refit of the Coast Guard ships.

Orientation programme for management trainees

RINL Director (Personnel) Kishore Chandra Das today inaugurated the orientation programme for the management trainees (Tech) who joined Visakhapatnam Steel Plant under a special drive to recruit persons with Disability. He stressed the need to know the technology incorporated in the plant and added the VSP was providing better opportunities, pay package, health care benefits and career growth compared to other industries.

De-addiction camp on Sunday

A free medical camp for those addicted to alcohol and other substances is being organized by Maharshi Foundation at its premises near Masjid Centre at Jagadamba centre from 10am onwards. The available de-addiction centres in the country in Visakhapatnam in particular are abysmally meagre, according to the immediate past general secretary of Indian Psychiatric Society N.N.Raju. Mother’s Day celebrations

As part of Mother’s Day celebrations, a series of programmes were held by the Skill Development Institute, Arilova campus today. Skits, plays, songs and dances were performed by the students. Later, the participants honoured their mothers with bouquets. Institute in-charge CVN Das and other faculty members participated in the programme.

Tailoring course

Lions Club of Visakhapatnam is offering a month-long tailoring course at its skill development centre from Tuesday. Based on the performance of the participants at the workshop, a couple of trainees will also be given a sewing machine. Interested candidates can register for the advanced course which will be followed after the workshop.
