Remand prisoner’s death triggers protest

A remand prisoner, A.Ramakrishna (40) died under suspicious circumstances at Narsipatnam sub-jail on Saturday night. It sparked protest from his relatives and family members and they staged a dharna in front of the sub-jail and the Excise police station on Sunday. According to sources, the deceased was a native of Pedamakavaram area and was arrested by Excise police for allegedly selling country made liquor and was remanded. The family members alleged that the Excise police have arrested illegally, beat him up mercilessly. Police however said that he died of ill-health.

Adeepraj to undergo indefinite hunger strike for solvation of Devasthanam lands issue

Gopalapatam:: YSRCP constituency coordinator Annamreddy Adeep Reddy will take up indefinite hunger strike from Monday demanding a solution on the lands of Simhachalam Devasthanam. The deeksha begins at 8.30am on Monday. YSRCP senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana and District president Amarnath Reddy extended their solidarity to the deeksha. District Congress president Bhera Bhaskara Rao, former corporater Raparti Sailaja and her husband Kanna, Central Censor Board former member Adireddy Muralikrishna, former sarpanch Adireddy Chellayamma, CPM leaders expressed their solidarity.

NSC examinations went off peacefully

Beach Road: Staff Selection Commission Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) examinations that were held today went off peacefully in the city said Joint Collector -2 D.Venkata Reddy. The examinations were held in 33 centres and as many as 7,288 candidates have taken up the examinations out of 16,416 applied.
