Indian contingent in Singapore IMR

Warships from around the world gathered at Changi Naval Base today as Singapore hosted its first International Maritime Review. An Indian contingent participated in the parade. INS Sahyadri was part of the land review while INS Kamorta was part of the sea view.

Tributes paid

Students of GVP MLBT School paid tributes to Saisri, a young girl student of Vijayawada who died on cancer after her father reportedly neglected her treatment. A video of the girl appealing to her father to provide her treatment ad save her life went viral on social media.

Arthritis camp

A free camp was organized by Q1 Hospital on its premises at Health City on the occasion of Mother’s Day. A total of 234 patients attended the camp and they were examined by consultant orthopaedic surgeon Ramana Murty. The hospital offered special packages to women patients and pre-operative tests were conducted for free of cost.

Jail term for eight for drink-driving cases

The III Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Ramya Chavala on Monday has sentenced one-day jail term to six persons and two-day jail for two persons, after they were caught for drink-driving. The Magistrate also slapped fine of Rs.1,000, Rs.1,500 and Rs.3,000 to all the eight persons.

Scrapping of GO demanded

GVMC Contract Workers’ Union has demanded scrapping of GO NO.279 stating it would result in financial burden to civic bodies as estimates were proposed to be increased to benefit contractors. The union took out a protest rally of workers from Sarasawati Park to Gandhi Statue today.

YSRCP demands CBI probe into hawala scam

YSRCP has demanded CBI inquiry into the tampering of revenue records and the Rs.1,600 crore hawala scandal. Party official spokesman P.Murthy Yadav alleged that tampering of records also occurred in Bheemunipatnam and Anakapalle mandals. Since, the District Collector Pravin Kumar himself had announced large scale tampering of records compromising land worth thousands of crores only a CBI inquiry would bring the guilty to the book, he said at a press conference.

Aqua farmers told not to use antibiotics

MP K.Hari Babu on Sunday said aquaculture was not limited to coastal areas as it had been making big strides in the landlocked States like Haryana and asked farmers not to use antibiotics. He was speaking at the fourth edition of Aqua Auaria India, a biennial showpiece event in Asia on the aquaculture and ornamental fishery sectors in Mangalore. The event was organized by MPEDA.
