A dharna was organized by the municipal workers under the aegis of the GVMC Employees Union, an affiliate of CITU at the Gandhi Statue today demanding scrapping of GO No.279.

Hotel MD arrested

Commissionerate of Central Excise and Service Tax officials arrested a Managing Director of a star hotel today and remanded in judicial custody for failure to remit to the government an amount of Rs.3 crore of service tax.

Minister for Industries Amarnath Reddy visits

Minister for Industries Amarnath Reddy during his familiarization trip to the city after being inducted in the Cabinet. He interacted with the District Collector Pravin Kumar and others on availability of land and allotments and investments proposed and grounded till date. He was accompanied by Industries Principal Secretary Solomon Arokiaraj and Commissioner Siddharth Jain. During an interaction with the representatives of CII, he promised sort out the problems faced by them on priority basis.

IAS offer to NCC women cadets

In an effort to widen the base for induction, the Indian Air Force has extended the NCC special entry scheme to the women cadets of NCC Air Wing ‘C’ certificate holders. The online registration and submission will commence on May 20 and will be open till June 15. Candidates are to apply online on the website www.carrerairforce.nic.in.

ICJ stay on execution of Jadhav hailed

Forum of Legal Professionals president Kuppili Muralidhar today hailed the judgement of International Court of Justice staying the execution of former Naval Officer Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav till further orders. ‘It is a diplomatic victory for India and our lawyer Harish Salve deserves all kudos for doing a stupendous job at the ICJ, he said.

15 students selected in campus drive

Tradeocean Cargo and Logistics Private Limited conducted a recruitment drive on the campus of AU College of Engineering on Wednesday. Undergraduate students of various branches took part in the drive. About 58 students took art in the screening test and 40 have been shortlisted for online and written test. GD followed by an interview. After the final round, 15 have been selected by a panel of experts. The selected candidates will appear for the medical test scheduled on May 24.

GITAM Engineering first phase counselling completed

The first phase of counselling for admissions into engineering, Pharmacy, Aerospace engineering courses in GITAM has been completed by today. In the first phase of counselling, over 3,000 students were admitted in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru campuses and 1,500 students are from other States. The classes would commence from June 14.

Applications are invited for admissions into Corporate colleges

Narsipatnam:: Assistant Social welfare Officer T.Satyanrayana said that they are inviting applications from the eligible students for admissions into corporate colleges. Speaking to press persons, he said that students who got 7 to 10 points during 2016-17 from SC, ST, BC, Minority, and Physically challenged students can apply . The students who studied from social welfare hostels, Asrama, KGBV, ZP, Aided, Navodaya schools are eligible.
