US official hold talks with GVMC Commissioner

Specialist from the US Treasury Department and officials from the Union Ministries of Finance and Urban Development met Municipal Commissioner M.Hari Narayan on Wednesday. A US delegation comprising Senior Infrastructure Advisor William Streeter and Infrastructure and Municipal Finance specialist Marshall Crawford discussed with Hari Narayan, the GVMC administration, its programmes and coordination with the State and Central governments according to a press release.

Rs.25 lakh ex gratia sought for victims of rape

Representatives of various associations demanded the authorities to act immediately against those accused in raping two minor Girijan girls in the Agency of the district. They staged a demonstration at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in front of GVMC and demanded action against K.Varun, son of a TDP MPTC member and L.Sivangendra, son of a head constable allegedly involved in the incident. They demanded immediate arrest and sought an ex-gratia of Rs.25 lakh to each of the victims.

Meanwhile, three of the eight accused in the gang rape case surrendered before the Chintapalli police on Wednesday. Another accused was caught by the police from an interior village in Chintapalli. Sub Inspector of Chintapalli Police Station said that special teams had been deputed to nab the accused. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao visited the victims, confirmed the surrender of the three accused and said all efforts were being made to nab the others.

Students union demands Governor to obstruct TDP Mahanadu in AU

Student unions have demanded the interference of Governor in organizing political meetings in Andhra University campus. They have staged a dharna at AU Main gate. YSRCP Student Union State general secretary Kanta Rao said that TDP is using the grounds of educational institutions for their own gains leaving the students welfare at a bay.
