Skaters for world selections

About 11 skaters including a coach have been selected for world selection trials for roller artistic skating to be held at Chennai from June 3 to 5. The skaters are T.Visweswara Rao, AB Shahit, K.Mohan Kiran, Priyam Tated, Riya Saboo, D.Venu Vardhan, P.Hari Kamal, B.Anmisha, R.Arun Kumar and F.Farheen. They will led by coach P.Satyanarayana.

President presents award to Prof.S.Sesharatnam

Noted Hindi scholar, writer and former Head of the Department of Hindi, A.U. Prof.S.Sesharatnam has been conferred the ‘Ganga Saran Singh Puraskar’ by the Central Hindi Institute, Union Ministry of HRD. The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented her with a cash award of Rs.5 lakh and a citation at Rashtrpathi Bhavan. The award is given for exceptional contribution to Hindi language and literature.

Bandaru Satyanarayana flays Botcha remarks

MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murty termed YSRCP leader Botcha Satyanarayana’s criticism against Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh as hollow. Lokesh worked on the cash transfer scheme in 2009 elections and though TDP lost the elections, he continued in the party and worked hard and earned his position in the party and government, he said. Rebutting charges of corruption against Lokesh, he said there was no ground for any inquiry.

HSL gets award for innovation

Union Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley recognized Hindustan Shipyard Limited for excellence under own initiative projects and presented a cash award of Rs.1 lakh along with a citation. CMD Rear Admiral L.V.Sarat Babu and his team received the award in New Delhi.

UTF relay fast

UTF leaders on Tuesday went on a relay fast at Gandhi statue in protest against irregular transfers. It was in solidarity with the indefinite fast by PDF MLCs on the issue. UTF leaders alleged the government was not interested in general transfers on merit basis but rationalization and government transfers through backdoor.

Chief Minister promises speedy action on house sites

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu promised to take speedy action on the long pending issue of handing over the house sites to accredited journalists. He gave the assurance to a group led by senior journalists P.Narayana, Ananda and Ramachandra Rao who met him on Monday.
