Office bearers elected

New office bearers of the Visakha Music Academy has been elected at the 48th annual general body meeting. The newly elected team members are S.Vijay Kumar (chief patron), S.V.Rangarajan (president), Kandala Srinivasa Rao and K.V.Ramana Murty (vice-presidents), T.Krishna Rao and A.Bhujanga Rao (joint-secretaries) and V.Chandrasekhar (Treasurer).

Four day workshop for dockyard pensioners

A workshop is being organized by Naval Dockyard for Naval Dockyard Pensioners and Family Pensioners at Kalamegha Auditorium, Meghadripeta Defence Civilian Residential Colony, 9 ISRD Area, Visakhapatnam from May 12 to 15 from 9am to 12 noon. Basanth Kumar takes charge as VC of VUDA

Basanth Kumar has taken over chare as Vice-Chairman for VUDA on Monday. He succeeds Babu Rao Naidu who has been posted as Collector of Kadapa.

Pande takes over as Coastal Guard ADG

K.C.Pande has been appointed ADG (East) at Visakhapatnam and will exercise jurisdiction over the Coast Guard Eastern Seaboard comprising the Regional Headquarters (North East) based at Chennai and Kolkata respectively.

Trial begins in tonsure case

Trial in the Ramachandrapuram tonsure case began here at the SC/ST Special Court (Prevention of Atrocities) on Monday with Justice K.V.Nageswara Rao examining the first victim, Koti Chinna Raju. The court has given a schedule from May 8 to May 12 and both the victims of alleged forcible tonsure, Koti Chinnaraju and Dadala Venkataratnam will be examined by Special Public Prosecutor Y.Sujata and cross examined by defence lawyer K.V.Ramana Murty. The main accused of Ramachandrapuram Thota Trimurtulu and others will also be examined. The MLA was present at the court on Monday.

Prakash Reddy is the new director of airport

G.Prakash Reddy has taken over as new director of Visakhapatnam Airport in the rank of General Manager. He has taken over from Vinod Kumar Sharma who was the airport director from May 2015. Prior to this assignment, Prakash Reddy had served as director of Coimbatore Airport from May 2015p onwards. Vizag Airport was declared a 'Major Airport' a few months ago. The airport has now been upgraded into Grade II level Airport.
