Cleanliness drive at DCI

As a part of fortnight-long nation-wide ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’, Dredging Corporation of India Limited conducted clean drive in the head office on Friday. Rajesh Tripathi, Chairman and Managing Director, DCI launched the special cleanliness drive.

Hindi fortnight concludes

Hindi fortnight concluded here at NSTL on Friday. Delivering the valedictory address, O.R.Nandagopan, Director, NSTL urged the scientists to present technical papers in Hindi also.

Engineering Day celebrated

Avanti Institute of Engineering and Technology celebrated the 156th birth anniversary of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on the college premises today. M.Srinivasa Rao, Anakapalli MP and Chairman of Avanthi group of Institution, Principal A.Chandrasekhar and others spoke. On the occasion a project expo by name ‘Astra 2K17’ was organized.

Post pack centre inaugurated

A ‘Post pack centre’ was inaugurated by Post Master General, Visakhapatnam Manisha Mishra at the Dabagardens Post Office here on Friday. This is the first such facility in the Andhra Circle. Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Visakhapatnam, Malladi Hari Prasad Sarma said that the facility would be available to customers from 9am to 7pm.

’Underground cabling is the top priority’, says Dora

H.Y.Dora took charge as CMD of APEPDCL today. Speaking on the occasion, he said that his top priority is to supply good quality of uninterrupted power to the consumer at a reasonable cost apart from laying emphasis on agricultural sector. He said that based on the Chief Minister’s assurance, that power tariff will not be increased. He said the focus area will be on completing underground cabling network. ‘Our target is to complete the work by 2019’, he said.

Ganja plantations destroyed

In a joint operation, special teams comprising excise, police and revenue conducted raids at ganja cultivation fields under G.Madugula and Hukumpet mandals in the Agency today. Standing crop ganja in about 34 acres in two mandals were destroyed. Sources said that four teams have been constituted and each team has about 50 members. The revenue and excise teams are given protection by the armed police personnel.
