HSL bags huge order from Defence Academy

Hindustan Shipyard Limited has won a ship building bid from the Ministry of Defence to construct two Diving Support Vessels worth Rs.2,020 crore by emerging as the lowest bidder in a competitive bidding process. The vessels with large displacement have an expected life of 25 years. They shall be provided with a state-of-the-art system. The other shipyards that participated in the bidding are GSL, CSL and GRSE and L7T. The contract would weight up the existing order book position of the HSL.

Driving licence mela held at GITAM

A driving licence mela was organized by the Transport Department at GITAM University today. President of the University MVVS Murty said efforts should be made to make city a smart city by promoting safe and responsible driving. The fair was organized to issue LLRs on the spot. Deputy Transport Commissioner S.Venkateswara Rao was present.

Neglect of Telugu language decried

Telugu Bhashodyama Samakhya president Samala Ramesh Babu and AP Right to Education convener Narava Prakasa Rao charge the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for he has reneged on his promise that the government is committed to the promotion of Telugu as a compulsory subject from Standard I to X. They said that announcements were made at the ‘Telugu Basha Dinotsavam’ celebrations on August 29 in 2016 and 2017 that Telugu would also be introduced as a subject at the Intermediate level but nothing happened so far. They said that a committee was formed with Ministers and officials to make recommendations for the implementation and GO was issued on February 2, 2017 converting all municipal schools into English medium. Though the Chief Minsiter said that Telugu medium has not been withdrawn but the controversial GO has not been scrapped so far, they said.
