Chintapalli DSP Anil Pulipati and his team donated five units of blood on Monday to facilitate valve replacement of Korra Bhavani, a tribal girl of Tirumanidi of GK Veedhi mandal of the district.

Freshers’ day celebrated at Avanthi college

Avanthi Institute of Engineering and Technology and Avanthi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated Freshers’ day on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister N.Chinarajappa attended as a chief guest. CEO of AP Innovation Society and Vice Chairman of APSCHE V.Valli Kumari was guest of honour.

Green soldiers’ campaign

A team of young ‘green soldiers’ presented an array of cultural programmes to raise awareness on the need to inculcate eco-friendly living practices at an environmental awareness programme at Public Library on Monday. It was organized jointly by Paryavarana Margadarsi Vaisakhi, BREDS and GESS, around 200 school students participated in the programme.

Dasaravali from September 27

A six-day tourism festival – Dasaravali- will be held at RK Beach from September 27 to October 2 as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations. The festival, being organized by the Tourism Department will see the participation of cultural troupes from various States in the country. The festival will be inaugurated at RK Beach at 6pm by the Deputy Chief Minister N.Chinarajappa and HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao today released poster on children science meet to be held for school children as a part of the AP Science Congress – 2017 to be held from November 7.

Former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna demands upgradation of VIMS

Former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna said that the objective of setting up of VIMS has been met only partially and converting it into an AIIMS will ensure its full utilization. He went round various blocks of VIMS and inspected various facilities. VIMS in-charge director C.V.Rao appraised him about the facilities at the hospital and the efforts being made to improve them. The VIMS has 400 beds, infrastructure and doctors, could serve as a ‘readymade’ hospital for setting up of AIIMS without any further delay.
