Liquor outlets at Gnanapuram- 100 days of protest
Protests by residents, particularly women, against the location of two liquor outlets at Gnanapuram in the vicinity of places of worship and 15 educational institutions completed 100 days on Thursday. Earlier, Ch.Raj Kumar of Grama Sangham submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Excise and Prohibition in Vijayawada on September 22 seeking shifting of the shops.
CPS anniversary festival
The Centre for Policy Studies is celebrating its 22nd anniversary on Monday at Visakhapatnam Public Library. Uday Balaksrishnan, visiting faculty member of Centre for Contemporary Studies, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru will be the chief guest. Former Union Energy Secretary E.A.S.Sarma will be attending as a special guest. The 127th issue of bulletin of the Centre for Policy Studies will be released on the occasion.
Free aid for physically challenged
Persons disabled by severely orthopaedic challenges will be provided three-wheelers of battery operated wheel chairs by the AP Differently Abled and Senior Citizen’s Assistance Corporation. The website launched for online registration http://www.apdascac.gov.in will close on October 16 and the printouts with enclosures should be submitted at the office of the RCD Hospital Campus, Peda Waltair.
RINL Swachhta Intranet Portal
RINL CMD P.Madhusudan on Thursday launched Swachhta Intranet Portal as a part of Swachhta hi Sewa campaign being undertaken at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The portal is a repository of information of Swachhta activities among the employees and departments to showcase exemplary contribution on implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Awards for resort
Sun Ray Resorts of Bhogapuram has bagged the ‘Best theme-based Resorts Award’ of the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the second successive year. The resort’s chief K.Ramana has been selected as the best chief of the year according to its proprietor Raja Babu.
