Sahithi shines in chess champ

City girl Sahithi Varshini Moogi has ranked seventh in World Cadet Chess Championship under 10-year category which was held recently in Brazil. She secured first in this year’s Asian Chess Championship and Commonwealth Chess Championship. In the World Cadet Chess Championship held from August 21 to 31, Sahiti got the same points as of bronze medalist Wang Elelen from USA. But after tie-break, her standing slipped to seventh place, said her family members.

Ananda Lahari

Classical and folk dances, karaoke magic, mimicry and folk songs comprised the inaugural ‘Ananda Lahari’ programme organized on Beach Road by GVMC and the Culture Department of AP today evening. GVMC Commissioner M.Hari Narayan inaugurated the programme. Swachh Bharat ambassadors Gollapudi Maruthi Rao and V.Balamohan Das, additional commissioners GVVS Murty and SS Varma participated in the inaugural.

Teachers’ Day celebrated

Teachers’ Day function was celebrated at Mrs.AVN College High School on Sunday. After garlanding the photo of Bharat Ratna Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, MLC P.V.N.Madhav was felicitated by N.Venkata Rao, Head Master of the school. President of Old Students’ Association M.Jagadeeswara Rao was present.

SDI trainees win prizes at expo

In the exhibition to mark 70 years of Independence and launching of New India Movement, organized by HPCL at Port Kalavani Stadium, the trainees of Skill Development Institute, Mudusarlova participated in big numbers and won prizes in various competitions held on Saturday and Sunday.
