Signature campaign against major ports Bill launched

United Port and Dock Employee Union affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions launched a signature campaign demanding the withdrawal of the Major Ports Authority Bill-2016 on Wednesday. The Bill was introduced in Parliament during the winter session in 2016 and Parliamentary Standing Committee was formed to study the issue and submit a report. Sources said that the report has been submitted and a decision on Bill is likely to be taken in the next parliament session. As per the Bill, 12 Major ports will be open for privatization and workers fear that their interests will be hurt.

Spelling bee contest on September 7, 2017

An inter-school spelling bee competition is being organized by Rotary Club Vizag Couples on Thursday at Prism College, Rajendranagar as part of the Youth Services Month of Rotary. Around 25 schools will be participating in the event which will see 50 teams competing with one another. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up.

Beach clean-up on September 10

Releasing a poster on Ken Foundation on beach cleanup from 8am to 10am at Sagarnagar on September 10, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao appealed the people to participate in large numbers. District Collector Pravin Kumar, Joint Collector G.Srijana, Municipal Commissioner M.Hari Narayan and VUDA Vice-Chairman P.Basanth Kumar will participate.
