Graduation day celebrated

Avanthi Group of Institutions’ Graduation Day began on a grand note on Friday. AU Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao who was the chief guest gave away certificates to graduates. Vice Chancellor of Damodaram Sanjeevayya National Law University V.Kesava Rao who participated as guest of honour emphasized the need to thing big and stay focused. Anakapalli MP and chairman of Avanthi Group M.Srinivasa Rao, Principal of Avanthi Institute of Engineering Technology, Narsipatnam C.Mohan Rao among others who spoke on the occasion.

Skill development programme on ‘Value added specialty fish products’

A three-day skill development programme on ‘Value added specialty fish products’, organized by ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology for Small Scale Fishers Producer Company as part of its diamond jubilee celebrations at the Visakhapatnam Research Centre of CIFT concluded on Friday. The fishermen were trained on different value added fish products namely fish burger, fish samosa, fish momo, fish culets, fish fingers, grilled fish, butterfly shrip and stretch shrimp. Director ICAR-CIFT, Kochi C.N.Ravaishankar distributed certificates to the trainees.

Students stage protest

Students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Andhra University staged a protest at the Gandhi statute on Andhra University campus today to condemn the killing of journalist Gauri Lankesh.

Air Chief Marshal visits AU

Chief of Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa today visited the AU. He said that AU and IAF will undertake research and academic activities under AU-Defence Joint Educational Programme. He took part in a programme held on the university campus and interacted with VC G.Nageswara Rao.

Assumes charge

P.N.Vijay Kumar has assumed charge as assistant commercial manager, commercial department of Waltair Division of East Coast Railway today. He joined the railway services in 1985.

Kopparapu awards to be given on Saturday

Sarod maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma has been chosen for the Kopparapu Kavula National Puraskaram-2017. Narala Rama Reddy of Proddatur has been selected for a new award introduced this year for eminent persons for accomplishment in the unique Telugu literary feat ‘avadahanam’. The awards will be given away at a function at Kalabharati Auditorium on Saturday.
