ABVP activists lay seize HRD Minister’s house demanding better amenities in hostels

Around 150 students owing allegiance to ABVP laid siege to the house of HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao at MVP Colony today demanding improvement of facilities in the hostels provided to SC,ST and BC students.

With the students squatting before the Minister’s house, a large police force from III Town and other places rushed to take control of the situation. The police drove away the students and picked up a few for detention when they kept on raising slogans in protest against lackadaisical attitude of the authorities in redressing their problems.

ABPV State Working Committee member TN Raju and city secretary Y.Sai and AU unit convener Nani said that they were being paid a daily mess expenditure of Rs.30 when inmates in jails were being served food worth Rs.100. They demanded supply o quality rice, sanction of own buildings, steps to avoid overcrowding in hostels, filling up of vacant posts and regular release of scholarship amount.
