Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today announced an ex gratia of Rs.5 lakh to the family members of N.Venkatesh, an employee of the DCI who had committed suicide recently in protest against privatization of the company.

He stated this when the bereaved family members accompanied by members of DCI Officers’ Association and the DCI Non-Executives’ Union met him here. He promised to take up the DCI management the issue of settlement of all statutory benefits and other dues to the family.

Anakapalle MP M.Srinivasa Rao said the Chief Minister promised to take up the issue with the Centre. CITU leader Ch.Narasinga Rao said that the Chief Minister said he was not consulted by the Centre on the issue.

Will raise DCI issue in Parliament’, says YSRCP

YSRCP MP V.Vijayasai Reddy today said that his party would raise the Centre’s unilateral decision on privatisation of the profit making DCI in the winter session of Parliament. After calling on employees who were on a relay hunger strike at the Three Horse Junction here along with party leaders, he said the party would hold talks with leaders of the Left parties such as Sitaram Yechury and Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy to mobilise their support on the issue. In a letter to the Union Shipping and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, he stated that the reports on proposed disinvestment had devasted the employees’ morale and the functioning of the head office had come to a standstill. There had been a constant agitation against the government’s proposal and a protest camp had been set up at the Three Horse Junction where the employee were on relay hunger strike.

DCI CMD meets relatives of Venkatesh

DCI CMD Rajesh Tirpathi today went to the native place of N.Venkatesh and expressed grief over the tragic loss. He promised all possible support to the family and instructed the officials to pay the terminal benefits due to the family members at the earliest.
