Former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna today reiterated his appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honor the promises made to the North Andhra in the BJP’s election manifesto and also in the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Act.

He said that Justice B.N.Sri Krishna Commission had observed that failure to address the financial and educational backwardness and poor health facilities in the three districts of North Andhra in a time-bound manner could lead to their further discontent and more calls for bifurcation, he said while addressing a media conference.

Konathala said that he had written letters to the Prime Minister thrice but failed to get a reply. ‘ I would send one more letter to the Prime Minister and hope that he would act on it. There is widespread discontent due to the utter disregard to North Andhra and it is deeper than what the government is perceiving. Another fissure is most likely to surface, if you don’t act swiftly’, he said.

He raised six issues in his letter that included provision of Rs.15,000 crore as a final assistance to North Andhra. Railway Zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam, conversion of the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences into All India Institute of Medical Sciences, sanctioning of a metro rail project for the city and provision of captive mines for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Special Category Status to the State.
