Visakhapatnam

The Left parties have given a call to observe bandh on February 8 to protest against the injustice done to the State in the Union Budget.

There was no mention of filling the budget deficit, railway zone with headquarters at Visakhapatnam, steel plant in Kadapa, funds for the capital, special package for the backward districts of north Andhra and Rayalaseema and other promises made in the AP Reorganization Act.

The leaders of the Left parties in a statement appealed to trade unions, merchants associations, farmers associations, students, youth, Dal;it and other associations to participate in the bandh and make it a success. The Centre had announced that it planned to raise Rs.80,000 crore through the sale of equity in PSUs. It would have a tremendous impact on the PSUs in Visakhapatnam.

The Budget has not offered any relief to employees, workers and farmers and failed to address the growing unemployment problem.
